Simply Accounting 2003 New Features

  • Simply Webstore¡V Build a complete Web store and seamlessly integrate with your Simply Accounting data. Orders taken via the web will synchronize with Simply Accounting. This is a hosted service, and hosting fees will apply.
  • Cheque log¡V A log will be kept for all cheques that have been printed and posted in Simply 2003. This information will be used for control purposes and will be available in a Check Log report in the Financial's Report menu.
  • Comment per account line in the General Journal¡V The General Journal will allow each account in the journal to have a comment associated with it. These comments will be printed on the journal entry report.
  • Integrate the General Journal with the tax reports¡V Journal entries made in the General Journal will track sales taxes and details will be included in the tax reports.
  • More user definable payroll hourly rates ¡V To increase the number of hourly rates available for payroll, each of the income categories can be defined as an hourly rate. Clients can also create differential rates. Differential hourly rates are used for shift premiums that are paid on top of the base (regular) number of hours worked.
  • Increased password security ¡V The password security levels will be increased to allow clients more flexibility when assigning access to the various parts of Simply.
  • Sort General Ledger report by date ¡V The General Ledger report will include an option to sort the report by date.
  • Edit sales tax amount in sales journal ¡V Sales tax amounts can be edited to allow users to account for rounding differences between Simply calculations and their cash register.
  • New data fields for all journal entries ¡V Clients can now store an additional date and information with each transaction.
  • Default revenue account for customers ¡V Customers can be set up in the customer’s record with a default revenue account that automatically gets filled into sales invoices.
  • Show Vacation Pay Owed and Advance amounts in the payroll journal ¡V When an employee has an outstanding balance for vacation pay and/or advances, the amount will be displayed in the payroll journal as a reference to clients so that they can easily see there are outstanding amounts and what those amounts are.
  • Dropdown list with default dates in date fields ¡V As per many client requests, date fields that had dropdown lists associated With them in v8.5, will have the dropdown list of default dates put back. They will still retain the new calendar button control as well. This will give the client the option of picking dates from the dropdown list, the calendar control, or by typing in the date.
  • Redo report options without having to close and reopen them ¡V Report windows will have a new toolbar button (and matching menu item) that will bring up the report’s options dialog where clients will be able to change the report options and regenerate the report. This feature makes changing report options easier by not forcing clients to close the reports first.
  • Show on report options dialog when the report is sorted and/or filtered ¡V When selecting reports?options, if the report has a sort or filter criteria set, the Sort and Filter buttons will be displayed with a check mark to indicate it. This makes it easier for clients to see when the report has a sort or filter set.
  • Shortcut to calculator on toolbar in all journals ¡V The toolbar for all journals will include a button that invokes the Windows calculator.
  • Sort recurring entries ¡V When recalling recurring entries, the list of entries can be sorted by: Transaction, Frequency, Date Last Processed, & Next Due Date.
  • "Save a copy" ¡V In the File menu, clients will be able to make a copy (or backup) of their database and continue to work on the original database.
  • Generate reports in HTML ¡V Reports can now be exported in HTML format to allow for viewing over the Internet.
